Bridge City Cyclocross

When I first moved to Portland, I fell deeply in love with cyclocross, so much B&C has its very own cyclocross team! We had 10+ members, some pretty rad sponsors, and at one point, our very own Coastal IPA!

While that chapter has closed and B&C, I've become more focused on Mountain Biking and running my Creative Business. I still enjoy showing up to races to cheer on my friends, shoot photos, and watch as a spectator.

These races feel pretty lonely; I don't feel like I fit in the community anymore, and I think a lot of that has to do with COVID. The pandemic took a massive toll on us mentally, and for me, it hit me in waves.

I, for one, was super stoked to come out to Bridge City CX, see old friends, cheer them on, shoot photos, but while that was all awesome, I walked away with a sad feeling. Maybe that feeling comes from knowing that the racing would be over after that weekend, and I wouldn't see my friends again. We just got back together, and now you're telling me there won't be any more local races?

Anyways that was just an observation I had when I was standing alone on the beach watching each rider pass by. This race was both magical and haunting at the same time.

Until next year Bridge City CX.
